Shirin Motamedi

Special Counsel
LLB (Hons) BA, Master of Applied Law (Family Law) (currently completing)

Shirin Motamedi chose family law because it combines two things she values deeply: helping people through difficult transitions and giving them the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their future.

She understands that family law is rarely just about legal documents or court processes. For many clients, it is a period of uncertainty, where important decisions need to be made while emotions are running high. Shirin’s role is to bring clarity to that process, helping clients understand their options and move forward with confidence.

Shirin works across a broad range of family law matters, including parenting arrangements, property settlements, and matters involving Family Violence Intervention Orders. She is known for her thoughtful, client focused approach and her ability to explain complex legal issues in a way that feels practical, clear, and manageable.

A strong advocate for resolving disputes outside the courtroom wherever possible, Shirin focuses on negotiation, mediation, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution. She understands that the prospect of litigation can feel overwhelming, and she works closely with clients to explore pathways that reduce conflict, minimise stress, and create lasting outcomes.

Clients appreciate Shirin’s calm and compassionate manner, as well as her commitment to providing personalised advice that reflects the unique circumstances of every family. She believes there is no single solution that works for everyone, and takes the time to understand what matters most to each client before developing a strategy that supports their goals.

In addition to her family law experience, Shirin has a practical understanding of criminal law, which provides valuable insight into matters where family law and intervention order issues intersect. This broader perspective allows her to guide clients through complex situations with confidence and care.

Outside of work, Shirin enjoys spending time outdoors, discovering new brunch spots, and making memories with her young nephew. She also values quality time with family and friends, and believes the strongest support networks are often the ones built through simple moments together.
