Virginia Parker is Special Counsel at Village Family Lawyers, bringing many years of dedicated experience in family law and a strong background in complex property and parenting matters. Virginia has previously held the role of Principal Lawyer at a well-regarded Melbourne law firm.
Having practised predominantly in family law throughout her career, Virginia is an experienced and client-focused practitioner known for her clear thinking and ability to identify the core issues at the heart of a dispute. She combines careful legal analysis with practical strategy, supporting clients through emotionally and financially complex transitions with steadiness and precision.
Virginia regularly appears in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and has previously appeared in VCAT and the Magistrates’ Court. She is confident in preparing and presenting matters both in written submissions and oral advocacy, and has extensive experience instructing counsel at interim and final hearings. Her litigation experience is balanced by strong negotiation skills, with many matters resolved through mediation, conciliation conferences and structured settlement discussions.
With significant experience in private practice, Virginia has managed complex files involving substantial assets, detailed financial disclosure and contested parenting arrangements. She is highly skilled in drafting court documents and correspondence, coordinating expert evidence, and guiding clients through each stage of the legal process with clarity and care.
Virginia’s approach aligns closely with the firm’s resolution-focused philosophy. She is committed to achieving equitable, practical outcomes wherever possible, while remaining prepared to advocate firmly when litigation becomes necessary.
She holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Arts from La Trobe University. Virginia maintains a current practising certificate in Victoria and keeps up to date with developments in legislation and case law to ensure her advice remains considered and current.
